The position of Drouseia
Drouseia is one of the most characteristic villages of the Cypriot countryside, built at an altitude of about 640 metres at the northwestern end of Cyprus, in the Paphos district. Its altitude offers a unique natural “balcony” with panoramic views to:
- the bay of Polis Chrysochous
- Cape Akamas
- and, on clearer days, up to the mountain tops of Troodos.
Thanks to this geographical location, Druscia enjoys a cool climate in the summer months and clean, dry air all year round, which in the past made it a popular destination for holidaymakers and stays of local families and returnees.
Close to Nature
Drouseia is just a few minutes from the entrance of the Akamas National Park, one of the most important protected areas of Cyprus. From here, many of them start:
- hiking routes with spectacular views
- nature trails leading to panoramic spots
- naturalist explorations for lovers of the flora and fauna of the area
Its strategic location makes it an ideal base for day trips to Akamas, Latsis, the Sea Caves and other coastal or mountainous destinations of Paphos.
Accessibility
Druscia is easily accessible by road:
from Paphos: about 35 minutes
from Polis Chrysochous: just 10-15 minutes
from Paphos airport: about 45 minutes
Visitors can arrive by car or taxi, and there is adequate signage. Although the village is traditional, it has basic infrastructure such as accommodation, taverns, bakeries and a grocery store.

The Climate of Drouseia
Drouseia has a mild Mediterranean climate, which is significantly differentiated due to its altitude (~640 m) and its proximity to the Akamas National Park. Its climate is influenced by three main factors:
- The plateau on which it is located.
- The sea currents of the Polis Chrysochous bay.
- The Troodos mountains that protect from the southeastern air masses.
Summer
- Average temperature: 27-28°C
- Maximum temperatures rarely exceed 32°C
- Cool nights: 18-20°C, making the use of A/C almost unnecessary
- Lower humidity than coastal areas
Ideal conditions for summer escapes, hiking and stargazing
Winter
- Mild and humid: 9-14°C on average
- Snowfall: rare, but has been recorded in severe winters
- Occasional rainfall, especially December – February
- Ideal for nature lovers seeking quieter experiences in the countryside
Spring
- Temperatures: 17-24°C
- Wild flowers, chamomile, poppies and blooming almond trees cover the landscape
Ideal period for ecotourism and photography
Autumn
- Bright and dry, especially in September – October
- Small temperature drop, average: 20-24°C
Suitable for hiking trails and agrotourism
“Drosia” – The microclimate that gave name to the village
The name Drouseia is derived from the word “dew”, due to the special cool breeze that rises from the gorges of Akamas on summer afternoons.
- The temperature in the village can be up to 6°C lower than in Polis Chrysochous at noon.
- The westerly winds help to clean the air and remove moisture.
- This microclimate makes Druscia an ideal base for alternative tourism.
